I often asked my guest, especially the ones that revisit Jamaica, why they choose to revisit Jamaica ? You may be pleasantly surprised to learn the answer. It may surprise you that about eighty per cent of them gave the same response.
Jamaica does produce one of the best if not the best coffee in the world. It was not the coffee that is responsible for their revisit to Jamaica. Although, they can appreciate a delicious cup of coffee.
The beaches in Jamaica are beautiful white sandy beaches. The Seven Mile Beach in Negril ranks as one of the top beaches in the world. The water clear blue and green. When I asked why they choose to revisit Jamaica, of course, the beaches were very frequently mentioned. But not the number one reason to revisit Jamaica.
The waterfalls are breath-taking, however, this was not what was responsible for their frequent revisits.
Travellers Revisit Jamaica because of the people’s Warmth.
It is very simply “the people”. The Jamaican people is the answer almost unanimously. They all agreed that it is the warmth and friendliness of our people that keeps them revisiting Jamaica year after year.
The Jamaican people are very easy to talk to. Extremely polite in a time when being polite is almost outdated. The reason for that I believe has to do with our cultural socialization. In fact, I remember, as a child if I walked down the street in just about any community without extending the courtesies of a smile, a hello, or a good day to the neighbours one would be considered as “bringing down disgrace on one’s family.” Myself, along with every other child, lived in mortal fear of being accused of such a deed. Consequently, to most Jamaicans it has become almost second nature to display warmth and courtesy.
Moreover, Jamaica’s unofficial name is “The Land of No Problem Mon.” This is simply because it seems so easy for most Jamaicans to try to come the assistance of visitors. Your requests for assistance is not a problem to us. So relax and enjoy your vacation . Welcome to the Land of No Problem Mon and please plan to revisit Jamaica.
